Turbulent ride: Robert Vadra likely to lose ‘no-frisk privileges’ at airports

Alongwith Vadra, several others might soon lose the VIP tag

New Delhi: Standing in the queue for pre-embarkation security checks at airports might soon a reality for Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s industrialist son-in-law, Robert Vadra.

Current rules entitle Vadra to the exemption when he is travelling with ‘SPG protectees.’

Alongwith Vadra, several others might soon lose the VIP tag that exempts them from being frisked at the country’s civil airports, as the Civil Aviation Ministry is working on a new list of VVIPs exempt.

According to media reports, 10 categories are likely to be removed from the current list.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) are to meet soon for a second round of talks to decided on the list of categories eligible for exemption.

Earlier, in May this year, Priyanka Gandhi wrote to SPG chief asking the security force to withdraw the exemption given to her and her family from normal security checks at airports.

Vadra, whose land deals have constantly been under the scanner has often being dubbed as ‘corrupt’ by the BJP.
