Ensure better care for patients
Patients suffer as most senior doctors are unavailable after 2 pm
Hyderabad: Dr T. Rajaiah, the Deputy Chief Minister and health minister, once again told the government doctors to improve patient care standards, work full time at the hospitals and only then demand better services. While officially, the government doctors are supposed to be in the hospital till 4 pm, most of the senior doctors are not found after 2 pm. As a result, patients are suffering, he said
Dr Rajaiah, at the diamond jubilee celebrations of Gandhi Medical College, said, “There have been petitions for better service, better facilities and also for further recruitments, all these are under consideration. But if the government takes these steps, the doctors in service must also show commitment for improvement. This is very important. If patient care does not improve, we can’t do much.”
According to the recent survey, the city requires one more general hospital and also a medical college as the population has seen a sharp increase.
