All India Service final allocation likely today
Hyderabad: The allocation of All India Service (AIS) officers to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states is likely to be completed on Monday. The Centre appointed Prathyush Sinha Committee has convened a meeting with TS chief secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma and his AP counterpart I.Y.R. Krishna Rao in New Delhi on Monday to discuss the objections raised by some IAS, IPS, IFS officers over their allotment to both the states. Nearly 20 officers are likely to be changed in the provisional allotment.
Though both the states were formed more than three months ago, the Centre failed to allocate AIS officers to both the states. The Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh K. Chandrasekhar Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu, took up the issue with the Centre stating that they are facing several problems in running the government with temporary officers for the past three months and could not focus on administration with no clarity over which officials would continue with them. Though the committee came out with a provisional allotment list on August 22, it evoked sharp reactions from several officers who found discrepancies in their allotment. Nearly 100 objections were filed by officers but the committee ruled out any changes at its meeting held on September 1.
However, both the governments took up the issue with the Centre to consider changes in the allotment of senior IAS officers as they are already holding crucial portfolios and any disturbance could derail the administration. IAS officer Vinay Kumar petitioned the committee stating that it had considered national seniority rather than state-seniority in allotment. He said that if that is considered he will be shifted from AP to TS. Another IAS officer Preeti Sudan will be shifted from TS to AP. Senior IAS officer P.V. Ramesh has been seeking allotment to AP from TS while Mr B.R. Meena from AP to TS. However, it remains to be seen whether the committee will consider their requests for a change in cadre.
