Sa Ra Govindu’s daughter, son-in-law booked for cheating
Bengaluru: A city-based techie filed a cheating and forgery complaint against the son-in-law and daughter of Sa Ra Govindu – a Kannada film director and activist, at the Sampigehalli police station on Friday night. The complainant, Santosh Rajendra Rao, has alleged that the accused, Ajith Kumar Jain, and his wife Tanuja Govindu, daughter of Sa Ra Govindu, have swindled him of Rs 80 lakh by selling a residential plot with forged documents.
Mr Rao alleged that he purchased the site in Telecom Society in Jakkur for Rs 80 lakh in December 2012. Ajith had showed the plot to Mr Rao, saying that it originally belonged to his elder sister Archana Jain, but she had gifted it to him. After getting the documents verified, Mr Rao got the plot registered in his name.
The problem began when Mr Rao wanted to start the construction work on the plot, but was stopped by Archana Jain, who claimed to be the owner of the site.
When Mr Rao showed her the documents, she clarified that she had not sold or gifted it to anyone.
A shocked Mr Rao realised that he had been given a forged gift deed and that Tanuja had impersonated as Archana while signing the documents at the time of registration, the police said. When Mr Rao approached Ajith for clarification, Tanuja allegedly demanded Rs 20 lakh more to be paid to Archana to avoid further complications.
Mr Rao also alleged that when he approached Sa Ra Govindu to resolve the issue, the activist threatened him with dire consequences, the police said. The Sampigehalli police have taken up the case and are looking for Ajith, who is absconding.
