IS uses Twitter to find new recruits, women for militants
Islamist radical movement has been using the online tools to indoctrinate, recruit and teach its new member
Moscow/Baghdad: Militants of the Islamic State are using the social media and other advanced Internet technology to inform, indoctrinate and recruit new members as well as to find partners and sex slaves. According to the recent research conducted by Quilliam, a London-based counter-terrorism think tank, Islamist radical movement has been using the online tools, such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, chat rooms and discussion forums in order to indoctrinate, recruit and teach its new members.
Moreover, according to a Fox News report, the Twitter handle @JihadMatchmaker “is linking up those seeking marriage in Syria in a halal manner.” “Want to marry a mujahid in Syria? Then [reply with] your age, languages, and marital status today. Allah is most generous!” a tweet read. There are also reports of British female jihadists forcing captured Iraqi women into sexual slavery at brothels run by the IS.
