Hyderabad: Reddit was the talk of the Internet for a large part of last week, courtesy the abundant content of illegally-obtained celebrity nude photos and videos that its users were so rampantly sharing.
But in a surprising turn of events, remorseful Redditors who seem to have grown a conscience are attempting to absolve their guilt — by donating to prostate cancer research, allegedly because ‘Jennifer Lawrence has donated to help cure prostate cancer.’
So far more than $6,000 (Rs 3.65 lakh) has been donated by Reddit users to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (ironically, the foundation isn’t listed as one of Jennifer Lawrence’s supported charities.)
The foundation, however, has returned the donations raised in this manner.
They even released a statement, saying that “we would never condone raising funds for cancer research in this manner. Out of respect for everyone involved and in keeping with our own standards, we are returning all donations that resulted from this post.”
