BJP teams to check cash flow
Mobile teamto move around Coimbatore to curb bribing of voters
Coimbatore: Amid allegations of distribution of cash to lure voters in Coimbatore ahead of the mayoral polls, the BJP has set up mobile teams that would move around Coimbatore to curb bribing of voters. After a busy day of campaigning on Saturday along with BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan, BJP mayoral candidate R. Nandhakumar alleged that his party had received information that money was being distributed to votes in some pockets of Coimbatore.
"We will file complaints with the election officials with proof. Our mobile teams are alert and in touch with the election officials. I trust that Coimbatoreans would not sell their votes for money."
Sporting sacred ash and vermilion on his forehead throughout the day, Nandhakumar visits important temples in the city during his campaign. On Saturday, his post-lunch campaign started at the entrance of the Lakshmi Narasimhar temple in Ukkadam.
"We will work for the welfare of Coimbatore residents. Improving infrastructure and transportation facilities are on our agenda. We want to bring back the investor to Coimbatore and also encourage the business houses here," said Nandhakumar. His brothers Ravichandran and Boopathy have taken time off from their transport business to help Nandhakumar in the campaign. "My relatives from neighbouring districts are also in the town to help me," he said.
