Warangal ideal for Health University: Telangana Deputy CM T. Rajaiah
There is adequate land available in Warangal besides the old government hospital and college with all facilities
Hyderabad: Medical education minister and Deputy Chief Minister T. Rajaiah, who invited the wrath of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao recently for making “impractical announcements” on setting up of health university in his home district Wara-ngal, reiterated that Warangal is the ideal location for setting up the varsity.
Speaking at a press conference here at the Secretariat on Saturday, Mr Rajaiah said there is adequate land available in Warangal besides the old government hospital and college with all facilities which makes it more suitable than other cities.
“I still strongly bel-ieve that Warangal is the ideal location to set up the health university. Though Chief Minister might have chided me for making an announcement on setting up health university unilaterally, it should not be looked at in a negative manner. He is like a father to me. His intention was only to caution me against making announcements in ha-ste which may embarrass the government later, if not implemented,” Mr Rajaiah said.
He added that some vested interests were trying to fire at Mr Rao from his shoulders. “They are unnecessarily trying to create a wedge between me and KCR. I will not fall into their trap. He never insulted me or hurt my feelings. Though I come from a Dalit family, I was made Deputy CM and handed over an important portfolio of medical and health,” Mr Rajaiah added.
However, Mr Rajaiah defended his statement of health university in Warangal saying that the universities have to be spread across the state and not just confined to Hydera-bad and surrounding districts. “We already have many universities in Hyderabad and its outskirts. The time has come to look beyond Hyderabad,” he said.
