Bengaluru: A fortnight of devastating floods has left people of Srinagar badly in need of life saving medicines for the many who have been suffering in the near inhuman conditions.
Representatives of Kashmir Rescue from Bengaluru say they have been receiving calls from both patients and doctors in Srinagar asking for supply of medicines.
“We received a call from the Ahmad Hospital, Srinagar seeking immediate supply of a few life saving drugs and sent a container of medicines Saturday morning. We have so far despatched medicines and food worth more than Rs 10 lakh,’’ said Mr. Nadeem Khan of the organisation.
‘‘There is no food or potable water in Srinagar and the shortage of life- saving medicines has worsened matters. We want all agencies to swing into full action immediately,’’ he added, alleging that neither the Centre nor the Jammu and Kashmir government was working hard to reach out to the people in distress.
