Laughter over seriousness
Out of the plays staged by theatre group Nishumbita the rib-tickling comedy was a winner
The week saw three plays staged at Lamakaan by theatre group Nishumbita. The first two plays, staged back-to-back on Friday, had a social message. Kukka and Khadga Shrusti. While Kukka, spoke about the zamindari system and how one needs to fight for their rights, Khadga Shrusti talks about corruption, looting and the dirty politics that exists.
While the first two plays were not a very big hit, day two saw a change. Saturday saw Nishumbita stage a comedy play, Match Fixing, to a house-full of guests. The rib-tickling one hour play saw power-packed performances by the actors. The story deals with a father, who tries to set-up a wedding match for his Virat Kohli-crazy daughter. What happens, when the daughter refuses to meet the boy and how he deals with an eccentric retired army Major and a nosy neighbour, left the audience in splits.
