Karnataka veteran leaders at war over flood relief
Gulbarga: Leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday cheekily advised BJP MP B.S. Yeddyurappa not to make a vain effort to find a rift in the relationship between him and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah when none exit (mosaralli kallu hudukuva kelasava maaduvudu bedi).
Mr Kharge made the statement in response to the comment by Mr Yeddyurappa that the former should appraise the “Congress high command of the failure of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to properly handle the flood situation in the state”.
“Instead of advising me, Mr Yeddyurappa, who is himself a national vice-president of BJP, should impress upon the Centre to release more funds to the state to provide relief to flood hit people” , he sternly told him. Mr Yeddyurappa had made the statement in Gulbarga on Friday after visiting the flood-hit areas.
Indicating that he would speak to the Chief Minister on the drought and flood damages in the district, Mr Kharge added that he would meet the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is heading Centre’s standing committee, regarding release of more grants to the state.
