For Police, Karthik Gowda is minister’s son first, a rape accused next
Bengaluru: Karthik Gowda, son of Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda, who has been accused of rape and cheating by Kannada film actress Mythriya Gowda, appeared before the investigating officer on Friday, three days after he was granted anticipatory bail by a City Civil and Sessions Court. He came to the R.T. Nagar police station along with his advocates and the bail order and completed the formalities for regularising bail.
He was later taken for a medical examination to B R Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital and then subjected to questioning under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Division.
While recording his statement, he denied all the allegations made against him by Ms Mythriya Gowda, sources said. He told the interrogation team that though he knew Mythriya for sometime, he only met her and spoke to her over phone a few times. He never had the inclination to marry her and the allegations came as a shock to his family, Karthik told the police.
He denied that there was a marriage ceremony in Mangalore and that he tied a mangalasutra to her, as claimed by the actress. Her allegations are an attempt to tarnish the image of his father and are politically motivated, he charged. He was questioned for more than seven hours.
Later, he was taken to the Forensic Sciences Laboratory in Madiwala, where his voice samples were taken. The High Court on Friday further adjourned the hearing of Mr Karthik Gowda's petition seeking to dismiss the first information report, which is based on the complaint filed by Ms Mythriya Gowda.
