There were also pamphlets and other election-related material found in the car and in the room Parkal TD MLA C. Dharma Reddy.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the cash was planned for use in the Medak Lok Sabha byelection. Police booked cases against the MLA and others.
Police were shocked to learn that Mr Dharma Reddy, was in the resort. They were awestruck to find election material, including banners and pamphlets in the room he stayed. However they could not arrest him as he had left the spot by then. “We found the election material in the room he stayed. As we did not have any concrete evidence nor we could catch him red-handed, we could not arrest him,” said Petbasheerabad ACP M. Srinivasa Rao.
Based on the circumstantial evidence, late on Friday evening cops registered a case against Mr Dharma Reddy, Vijay Vardhan Reddy and car driver Naresh for violation of election code of conduct.
