Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the Ranga Reddy district collectorate at Saifabad on Friday morning when leaders of the main Opposition party, Congress staged a protest. They expressed dissatisfaction over the state government’s policies towards farmers. They tried to barge into the collectorate, but their attempts were foiled.
While the Telangana government was celebrating successful completion of 100 days, the Opposition pointed out lapses in the government policies.
Scores of party leaders including Telangana PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmiah, former minister Danam Nagender and others took part in the protest. They raised slogans against the government and held placards. The Saifabad police on receiving an alert rushed to the spot and took many leaders including Ponnala Lakshmaiah into preventive custody.
