Vijayawada: The Vijayawada city railway station will get a new look soon. Now the new building is under construction at platform number one beside the main entrance.
According to officials, the new building is being constructed for providing additional passenger amenities. One-passenger hall and washrooms and another relaxing lounge is under construction along with expansion of the new restaurant. The officials have finalised designs to get the new look by constructing the new buildings.
South Central Railway Mazdoor Union president K. Ramgopal said that the buildings could be utilised for another entrance also. However, the railway station would get a new look after completion of the new building, he added.
Vijayawada Railway Division public relations officer P. Michel said that the new building is under construction for the movement of the passengers with more convenience. Especially, the building is designed to create more passenger amenities, he added.
