Efforts on to bring back tourists: official
Bengaluru: Stating that over 400 people from the State were stranded in Jammu and Kashmir floods, the Karnataka Special Representative to Delhi C. S. Nadagouda said that all those who are stranded will be brought back in next few days.
Mr Nadagouda told reporters here on Wednesday that it was difficult to track the stranded people as the telephone network was completely down in the valley. "We have sent all possible mobile SIM cards to the four officers, who are coordinating with local administration. So far, 11 people have come back, while another 29 people have reached Karnataka Bhavan in Delhi,"' he said.
Chief Minister Mr Siddaramaiah said that the four officials were doing good work and there was no need to depute any ministers to the Valley. Meanwhile, the state government had prepared a memorandum to the Centre, seeking Rs 426 crore as compensation for the rain damages in the State. ‘‘We have requested the Central team to visit the State and if needed, we are ready to lead an all-party delegation to Centre,’’ he added.
