CM Siddaramaiah’s doing fine, It’s for him to decide on Deputy CM post, says S M Krishna
Bengaluru: Former external affairs minister S.M. Krishna on Wednesday refused to comment on the delay in cabinet expansion and the creation of the post of deputy chief minister (DCM) in the state, saying it was upto Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take a call on both matters. “I became deputy chief minster because of the circumstances at the time. It all depends on what the Chief Minister thinks. I don’t what to comment further,” he told reporters here.
Appreciating the work done by the Siddaramaiah government, he said it was doing fine.
Mr Krishna, who was sidelined by the party in the last parliamentary polls, was however more vocal on the issue of the opposition leader’s post in the Lok Sabha, saying the Congress leadership could not lay claim to it when it did not have the requisite numbers.
“To claim the opposition leader’s post, a party needs to win at least 10 per cent of the Lok Sabha seats. But we won just 44 seats. So the Congress shouldn’t push for the post. There are certain rules and principles governing our democratic system and we can’t act against them in our own interests. This is my personnel opinion,” he said.
