Headquarters at Vizag would be created to give filip to development of electronic sector

Visakhapatnam: Vizag would have two electronics manufacturing clusters (EMCs) and also electronics bazaar as per the new AP Electronics Policy that was unveiled by the state government on Tuesday. Local IT entrepreneurs have been pitching for promotion of electronic manufacturing since manufacturing costs in China are going up and many MNCs and small companies are looking at low cost and cost effective destinations.
According to the new government policy, Vizag is proposed to be developed as Mega Electronics Hub for the state.An autonomous society with headquarters at Vizag would also be created as an Empowered Mission for Electronics & IT Promotion to give fillip to the development of the sector and take faster and agile decisions. The Mission would be headed by a technocrat and would have three experts in electronics and IT, two academics and an expert in marketing and promotion.
“Fast movement of inputs, components and finished products is essential for cost-effectiveness in the ESDM sector, which otherwise operates on thin margins. Steps would be taken to enhance the logistics on the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Corridor,” said the Policy
In the ITIR, proposed at Vizag, government would reserve two clusters to be solely developed as electronics hubs.The state government will also set up electronics bazaars at Vizag along with Vijayawada and Tirupati. The Electronics Bazaars would act as G2B/ B2B/B2G/B2C platforms for electronic products in the state. The bazaars would also provide space for new product launch.
