Telangana Chief Minister vows to fulfil pre poll promises
He asserted that the power crisis would ease in a year’s time
Hyderabad: Blaming the previous Congress and Telugu Desam governments for the ills plaguing the new Telangana state, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday promised to implement all electoral promises, including Rs 1 lakh crop loan waiver and two-bedroom housing scheme soon. He asserted that the power crisis would ease in a year’s time, further improve in the second year and ensured 24-hour power supply after three years.
“I don’t tell lies nor will I go back on my word. I will chop off my head if I do that. Don’t fall prey to rumours spread by the likes of TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah and other Opposition leaders. Loan waiver scheme will be implemented in a few days’ time,” he said while addressing a huge election rally in Narsapur, Medak district, in support of TRS Medak Lok Sabha nominee Kotha Prabhakar Reddy.
Mr Rao’s visit ignited the election tempo in the constituency, which witnessed a war of words between the ruling and Opposition parties.
Mr Rao cautioned voters that even a drop in few votes from his 3.97 lakh victory margin in 2014 general elections would give a reason to the Opposition to attack the TRS saying it is losing it’s grip. “I need your (voters) blessings for Mr Kotha Prabhakar Reddy. He should win by at least four lakh to five lakh votes. We have done a lot and we will do a lot for Bangaru Telangana,” he said.
Targeting TPCC chief, Mr Rao said, “I feel ashamed to hear Mr Lakshmaiah say we did nothing in three months’ time. Yes, we have done nothing. If the Congress had been in power it would have swallowed Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 4,000 crore by now. We cannot do that,” he added.
Referring to Mr Laksmaiah comments on 160 farmers suicides in Telangana, the Chief Minister hit back saying, “Who is responsible? Is it not due to the Congress’ 60 years of sin? People should question Mr Lakshmaiah and his party leaders.”
Showering promises on voters, Mr Rao assured that the government would ground many welfare schemes from Dasara. “I am a farmer myself and I know the pain. RBI gave permission for three districts (for loan waiver). We are not poor and we can pay the banks. Every eligible farmer will get it,” he added.
Blaming the Congress government’s irregularities in the housing scheme for the delay in launching two bedroom housing scheme, he said the scheme costing Rs 3.30 lakh per house would be implemented once CID investigation is over.
“Thieves are waiting for launch of the scheme. I do not want even a single rupee to go to the thieves who looted in the past housing scheme. Housing scheme will be taken up in the next few days in towns,’ he added.
