Kurasava museum architect feted
Vice-Admiral Vinod Pasricha was felicitated by the World Ship Trust
Visakhapatnam: It was a trip down memory lane for the former Eastern Naval Command (ENC), commander in chief, Vice-Admiral Vinod Pasricha (Retd), who was the brain behind Ind-ia’s first submarine museum, Kurusura, on Vizag beach road, here on Wednesday when ENC fraternity felicitated him.
Vice-Admiral Vinod Pasricha was felicitated by the World Ship Trust (WST), a UK-registered charity, that encourages restoration and preservation of historic ships around the world.
He was awarded the Individual Achievement Award for his outstanding role and leadership in establishing a Naval Heritage Museum, the only one of its kind in the country, onboard the decommissioned Kurusura.
He explained the ordeal he and his team went through to bring submarine on to the land platform and also the legal hurdles. “Somebody had tried to stall the project by filing a PIL in the court. Thanks to Prof Prasad Reddy, of Andhra University, the PIL could not stand in the court,” Vinod Pasricha said.
