Hyderabad Civic body chief reviews signal plan

Hyderabad: The GHMC commissioner Mr Somesh Kumar held a review meeting with regard to HTRIMS Project and enquiried about its execution, which is being done by Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru.
The project cost is Rs 63.61 crore. Under this project about 221 traffic signals are being installed in GHMC limits including 157 in Hyderabad and 64 in Cyberabad. “Installation of 151 traffic signals has been completed and six are pending. In Cyberabad area all the 64 traffic signals have been completed and synchronization has to be taken up,” the commissioner said.
He added that for the remaining six traffic signals the places have been changed duly replacing areas which include 1. Adikmet Junction 2. Air Force gate (Cantonment area) 3. Balika Bhavan 4. Ramchandrapuram (BHEL Junction) 5. Patancheru Junction and 6. City College junction.
The Variable Message Signages totalling 17 have been completed, out of 221 identified junctions, 215 cameras have been installed and the timers are fixed at 17 junctions out of 221.
The GHMC and traffic commissioners will inspect the 17 junctions, where the timers have been fixed on September 20 at 11 am and instruct the concerned authorities to complete the functioning of timers of all the 17.
The concerned officials are directed to dismantle old traffic signal poles by Sept. 30 and put animations on VMS along with GHMC and traffic police logos. BEL officials on the instructions of the commissioner to fix all the timers in all the 221 junctions within six weeks, assured that the team would come on Sept. 15 and they will stay till the pending works are completed including the rectification and update of the software.
