Karnataka plotting cover-up on Arkavathy layout scam: Jagadish Shettar

He accused the state government of trying to derail the judicial probe
Bengaluru: Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly, Jagadish Shettar on Tuesday accused the state government of trying to derail the judicial probe into the Arkavathy layout scam by tampering with the documents of the denotified land to make it seem like it still belonged to the original owners.
“We have received information that the government has given directions to the DCs and ACs to revert the documents to pre-acqusition status. After acquisition, the BDA becomes landowner, but now it will appear like the land is still with the original owners. The idea is to dilute whatever investigation is being planned,'' he claimed, speaking to reporters here.
Pointing out that the government had neither set up a commission, nor named a judge for the judicial probe, he said if it continued to alter the documents, the inquiry would become meaningless. Revealing that the BJP had constituted a committee to decide its future course of action on the issue, Mr Shettar said it wanted a CBI investigation into the scam.
“The committee will decide how to proceed , whether a petition should be filed in court or with Lokayukta. The decision will be taken in a day or two,'' he added.
