Consumers can soon check power supply status online in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government is aiming to let consumers know power supply position at any time online by this month-end through its work of installation of modems and SIM cards on feeders.
In a teleconference with CMDs & top officials of DISCOMs on Wednesday, Energy Secretary Ajay Jain insisted on fixing modems and SIM cards on all 9,254 feeders, so that real time monitoring is possible and complete the work by the end of September.
The work will enable consumers across the state to know power supply position in any corner of the state at any time.
Jain also directed power utilities to make efforts to fully meet seven hours power supply to agriculture sector. He also directed officials to duly make functioning of all toll free call centres more effective in DISCOMs.
The government, he said, is very particular that not a single farmer should loose his standing crop due to failure in giving seven hours of power supply and requested farmers to lodge complaint with the Divisional Engineer concerned, if even one per cent of crop dries up due to short supply of power.
He directed field officers to identify hamlets, which have been not electrified so far and submit estimates immediately, as Government is committed on electrifying all households, according to a State Energy Conservation Mission statement.
The government is even planning to extend power supply to agriculture up to nine hours in future depending upon the power situation, he added.
In this regard, CMD Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh and MD APGENCO K Vijayanand suggested officials of DISCOMs to inspect the field and monitor feeder wise power supply position and to take prompt action to conduct substation level meetings duly involving local public representatives.
