Peeping Tom burnt alive by gang of five
Chennai: A 20-year-old man was allegedly set on fire by a gang on Monday, two days after he was caught peeping into the bathroom when a woman was taking bath near his house at Kannathangal village in Sriperumbudur. Sudhakar succumbed to the burn injuries at the Kilpauk medical college hospital on Tuesday, the police said.
They said the youth, in his dying declaration, said he was set on fire by a gang of five men after intercepting him while he was riding on his bike from a relative’s house to his village on Monday morning.
He managed to reach his house with burns all over his body, he told the police. When the police complained to the Sriperumbudur police about the attack on Sudhakar, the police first took him to identify the spot where the gang had set him on fire before admitting him to the local government hospital and later shifting him to KMC.
Sudhakar was caught peeping into the bathroom on Saturday. He was given a sound thrashing by not just the villagers but also even his own family. Relatives then sent him away to a relative’s house in Kaduvancherry, near Vannakuttai.
It appears that the youth felt bored there and decided to ride back to his village, only to meet a horrible end.Based on the dying declaration and the family’s complaint, the police the accused.
