IPL spot-fixing: Sourav Ganguly gives clean chit to controversial RR vs CSK match
Mumbai: The members of the Mudgal probe committee met here in Mumbai for two days on Saturday and Sunday, it is learnt here.
According to the sources, the "secretly" arranged meeting had no presence of Sourav Ganguly. The former India captain has been the part of the panel to assist the committee in its investigation into the betting and spot-fixing scandal in last year's Indian Premier League.
According to the sources close to the former India captain, Ganguly is believed to have given "clean chit" to one of the IPL games between the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
Sourav Ganguly 's views on one specific controversial IPL match between these two teams were sought and he was asked whether it seemed to be a fixed game. Ganguly's inputs are likely to have been noted in the recent report submitted by the panel to the apex body.
Apparently, no major name was interrogated by B.B. Mishra in Mumbai during his stay in the city. However, the National Narcotics bureau chief Mishra is waiting for the team to return from England. Once the players return to India early next week, Mishra will be a busy man on the job, it seems.
Not only the players are named in the confidential report, a few Board members also figure in the list. So far only the name of N. Srinivasan has been announced among the 13 names. All named in the confidential report (submitted to the Supreme Court) are set to be questioned.
"Srinivasan and his son-in-law Gurunath Mayeppan have not been questioned so far but they are bound to be called at the concluding stage of the inquiries", the highly-placed source pointed out.
And none of them would be allowed to accompany with their lawyers. At the most, the lawyers may be allowed to sit at few feet away from the interrogation table.
