Innovative idols of Bald Ganesha, Trimurti Ganesha, Angry Bird Ganesha steal the show
Theme Mandapams during the Ganesha procession on Monday
Hyderabad: Theme mandapams were a major attraction during the Ganesha procession on Monday. The city roads saw Ganeshas of all sizes, hues and forms like the Palki Ganesha, Bald Ganesha, Trinetra Ganesha, Trimurti Ganesha, Panchamukhi Ganesha, Trishul Ganesha and Mrudangam Ganesha among others.
One of the most attractive processions was from the Shamsheer Jung area. The mandapam on the lorry from Shamsheer Jung was decorated with different fruits, weighing about 200 kg, and artificial pearls.
After the immersion, the puja organisers planned to distribute the fruits among the families that had contributed. Around 50 security guards were employed to guard of the fruits.
S. Suresh, an organiser and a resident of Shamsheer Jung, said, “On the 10th day, hundreds of kilos of fruits were purchased from the Moazzam Jahi Market to decorate the lorry. It took nearly 48 hours to decorate the lorry.
We used all kinds of fruits like grapes, apples, pomegranates, bananas, pineapples, musk melons, oranges, mosambis etc.. We also kept aside one quintal of ladoos for the devotees. Once the idol is immersed, we will distribute the fruits to all those who helped us buy the idol by making contributions. We have been practicing this for the last 40 years.”
Another procession that drew attention was the Ganapati on Angry Birds (a game by Rovio). There were mini Ganapatis too, which were taken for immersion on toy scooters.
