RTI queries to KSRTC turned down ‘invalid’

The website still shows the retired officer K.M. Irshad as the designated person

Kochi: The KSRTC has a separate wing ‘Electronic data processing centre’ for activities like online ticket booking and website maintenance. But it seems the ‘specialisation’ is doing more harm than good.
The name of the designated RTI officer, who retired in May, is still retained on the KSRTC website even as the RTI queries of many applicants addressed to him are being turned down as ‘invalid.’
“I decided to send an RTI query by registered post addressed to the officer concerned with the particular section/ department as required. I wanted to know the collection on my route which the authorities are citing as a reason for less service. Hence I address it to the officer heading ‘Traffic’,” said Ajay S. Kumar, a college student of Peyad, Thiruvananthapuram.
The website still shows the retired officer K.M. Irshad as the designated person while the section is actually handled by P.M. Sharaf Mohammed.
“I’m yet to secure my right as a common man due to the false data given on the website. Also unlike other agencies like MVD, the KSRTC won’t entertain court fee stamp and insists on postal order/ money order/ demand draft,” he rued. When contacted, an EDPC officer said the website would be updated at the earliest.
