Rail Minister Sadananda Gowda's son Karthik gets anticipatory bail, police off hook
Bengaluru: The City Civil and Sessions Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Mr Karthik Gowda, son of Railway Minster D.V. Sadananda Gowda, in a rape and cheating case filed by a Kannada film actress, Mythriya Gowda.
Judge G.B. Mudigoudar granted anticipatory bail to Mr Karthik Gowda and directed his counsel to pay Rs 2 lakh in bonds along with two sureties. The court directed Mr Karthik Gowda to appear before the investigating officer whenever he was summoned and to sign the police register at the R.T. Nagar police station on 15th and 30th of every month till the investigations are completed.
The judge told the counsel that Mr Karthik Gowda should not tamper with evidence or influence any witnesses. He should also surrender his passport to the police.
The judge warned the counsel that bail would be cancelled if any condition is violated. Judge Mudigoudar in his 62-page judgement also mentioned that there is confusion in the statements of the complainant, as she filed a complaint of rape two months after the incident.

Counsel for Ms Mythriya Gowda said that they are going to challenge the order before the High Court on Wednesday and that Mr Karthik Gowda did not appear before the the investigating officer fearing arrest.
Ms Mythriya Gowda said that it is not a setback. “I respect the court order and the police are making efforts in the case and I hope I will get justice,” she stated. It was a major relief for the special teams which are investigating the case, as they were under immense pressure from different quarters to trace and arrest Mr Karthik Gowda. Special teams had been sent in different directions to look for the accused after an arrest warrant was issued against him by the court. “Now, we don’t need to trace him. We hope that he will come to us at least now, since there is no apprehension of arrest,” a senior police officer said.
Mr Karthik Gowda has to appear before the jurisdictional police and cooperate in the investigation, which will also include a medical test, the officer added.
