Hyderabad: Chief Justice slams police for traffic blockades
Hyderabad: Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta of the Hyderabad High Court hauled up home principal secretary and the city police commissioner on Monday after the police set up several road blocks for the Ganesh immersion procession.
Noticing the traffic blocks while travelling to the High Court from his residence in Banjara Hills, Justice Sengupta summoned the officials to his chamber and asked about the arrangements.
Sources said that the Chief Justice asked the officials how they allowed the road blocks which hampered the movement even of ambulances and others. He said that the officials always keep alternative routes open for use in emergencies.
Justice Sengupta verified with the officials whether it was possible to have some routes earmarked for uninterrupted passage. Sources revealed that the officials could not assure the Chief Justice and told him would be able to do it from next year.
The Chief Justice commenced court proceedings after the meeting.
During the proceedings, Advocate General K. Ramakrishna Reddy made a mention asking the court to hear the JNTU’s appeal over a single judge order in a case of disqualifying 175 engineering colleges.
The Chief Justice expressed his displeasure and reacted to the situation.
