'Creature 3D' will create a new genre in Bollywood, says Bipasha Basu
Kolkata: With the upcoming monster thriller sci-fi film 'Creature 3D', actress Bipasha Basu today said they were creating a new genre in the Indian film industry.
"This is the first in the business here. We have done a lot of genres like romance, comedy, horror, drama, etc but doing a creature feature film is a step forward," Basu told reporters here.
She said Hollywood has films like 'Jurassic Park' and 'Anaconda' series but a film based on such creatures was missing in Hindi films. "We have loved what the West has done in the genre. The kids have loved it in particular. And this film is made completely by Indian technicians and I would say that we are at par with the West," Basu said.
Unlike Hollywood films in the genre, the actress said, 'Creature' was rooted in Indian sensibilities as the monster in the film was a Hindu mythological character called 'Brahma Rakshsah'.
Having done a number of films like the 'Raaz' series and 'Aatma', Basu said the genre was not exploited well in the country. "In the West, the supernatural genre is very big. I like
selling or promoting a new genre," the 35-year-old said recalling that the shooting was very difficult because the monster was made digitally after the shooting was complete. There was 11 months of post-production where the monster was created bit by bit," she said.
When asked about working in Bengali films, she said she was offered a film by Bengali director Srijit Mukherjee but she could not do it because of date problems. "But I have told him that I want to act in his films," the actress who was brought up in Kolkata said.
Directed by Vikram Bhatt, the film releases this Friday.
