Telangana fails to get technical aid for global city plan
Hyderabad: Telangana government’s move to make Hyderabad a global city hits roadblock. Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), entrusted with task has failed to get a single agency for technical assistance in finding a consulting agency for preparing ‘Vision Document’ for Hyderabad a Global City. Having failed to get a single agency after calling for applications, HMDA had extended the deadline until Sept. 6 ,but in vain.
Mr. Neerabh Kumar Prasad, HMDA Commissioner said, “It is not as if there are no consulting agencies coming forward, but there is a conflict of interest. The agency which participates in finding a ‘global agency’ to the government cannot participate as a Global Agency. The agency for technical assistance will play a crucial role, as it will bring all the multi-sector aspects of the global city including health, tourism, power, and also provide documentation. The consulting agency also needs to specify the time frame for every sector in the city on its growth and set the benchmark to achieve it.
Mr. Madhavaraja, chief engineer, HMDA, “The global consultancy which would be engaged in the vision document of Hyderabad as a ‘Global City’, would analyze and examine various aspects of a global city. “Perception of Global City is varied and some define it in terms of health sector, employment, infrastructure etc.” said the authorities.
