Jamath sets face against Al Qaeda
Tirunelveli: Muslim leaders in Tamil Nadu have strongly condemned Al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahri’s announcement about the launch of an Indian branch of the dreaded militant outfit. According to them, Muslims in India have a safer life than their brethren in other parts of the world. Coming down heavily upon Zawahri’s announcement, Shamsul Luha Rahmani, administrative committee chairman of Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamat (TNTJ), termed the Al Qaeda as anti-Islamic as the militant outfit believed in human killing, which Islam denounced.
The TNTJ, at its Tirunelveli district general body council meeting on Sunday, also resolved to unite the Islamic community to drive away the Al Qaeda in any form from the country. The jamat district unit members said at the same meeting that the group planned to hold a door-to-door campaign against terrorism for about a month from October 15 in Tirunelveli district. It has also been decided to make non-Muslims understand that Muslims, like any other community, love to lead a peaceful life.
“We accept that there are some black sheep among us, but they don't represent the entire community,” said Shahul Hameed of Melapalayam, who also added, “Such anti-social elements are there in all non-Islamic communities too.” Further condemning violence and terrorism of all kinds, Shamsul Luha Rahmani suggested a blanket ban on all kinds of religious processions that stirred hatred between people of different faiths.
