New Delhi: The interrogation of arrested Indian Mujahideen (IM) tech expert Ajaz Shaikh has revealed that his next destination was Delhi, indicating that a possible strike during the upcoming festive season was being planned, sources said.
Shaikh was caught by the Delhi police special cell at Saharanpur railway station on Friday. “Shaikh, who had fled to Nepal after Yasin Bhat-kal’s arrest, was asked to go to Delhi to plan a strike,” said a source, adding, Shaikh was also asked not to go directly to Delhi from Kathmandu.
That is the reason he de-boarded at Saharanpur to stay for a day there before leaving for Delhi. Before reaching Saharanpur he made stopovers at Luck-now and Moradabad as well.” Investigating officials are trying to find out how many days he stayed and who he met in these two cities.
A senior police officer claimed Shaikh was scheduled to meet a sleeper cell in the national capital in the coming week. Sources added that Shaikh has reportedly confessed to receiving the explosives used in the 2010 Pune German Bakery blast.
