Nellore: District collector N. Srikant has directed the officials concerned to keep a tab on the labs conducting sex determination tests and book cases against them if they violate the rules in vogue.
Addressing a workshop on the 1994 Act against sex determination tests here on Saturday, he expressed concern over alarming drop in the sex ratio and attributed the decline to abortions where the foetus is identified as female.
He called upon the NGOs, police, doctors and officials to conduct awareness camps especially in villages to educate the people on the issue.
