Run machine Bolt can’t wait to train

Fastest man om the earth had to find a way to fight with injuries
Hyderabad: What makes Usain Bolt the man he is? For starters he is the fastest man on earth; holds the world record for 100 metres and 200 metres simultaneously and is the first man to do so ever since the fully automatic time measurements became mandatory in 1977. But what Bolt does when the cameras are not around is seldom spoken about. The 28-year-old spends almost six-and-a-half hours a day training. “From Monday to Friday I hit the gym in the morning. After which I take a short break and spend another two to two-and-a-half hours training in the summers,” he said in an email interview to this paper.
“In winters I hit the gym for an hour extra and also increase the number of days dedicated to weight training from three to four,” he added. With a major event coming up does Bolt continue the regime or does he train differently? “Just before a competition I stay away from heavy weights and do light weights in order to not pull a muscle or injure myself. But my training on the circuit is the same,” the 100 metres world record holder said.
Bolt, who rose to prominence since his triple gold medal (100m, 200m and 4x100m) in the 2008 Bejing Olympics has had to find a way to fight with injuries. “Injuries are a part of life. But that cannot bring you down. I have always looked at the positive side of things and I make sure I keep myself motivated enough. During my rehabilitation all I do is light exercises that help me keep fit. And if, the injury allows, I work towards strengthening my back,” Bolt said.
With Bolt postponing his retirement plans, will we get to see him compete at an event in India? “Well, maybe. Let’s see what the future has in store for me.”Bolt on his recent visit to India had the opportunity to taste Indian food and he loved it. “I tried the Indian curry and it was great. It was spicy and I love spicy food,” the sprint ace said.
