Allege leaders from the region totally fail to protect the interests of people

Anantapur: The pro-Rayalaseema activists were vent their ire against the MLAs and MPs, including party presidents of the Rayalaseema region for their failure to mount pressure on the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu over the capital issue. They demanded that the government should have at least considered second capital for the region.
Though the region has 48 MLAs and 8 MPs including the Chief Minister and Opposition Leader and APCC president, they allege that the leaders had reportedly failed to raise the issue seeking capital in the region.
Soon after the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had announced the state capital at surroundings of Vijayawada at the Assembly on Thursday, protests witnessed at all parts of the region. The protesters led by Rayalaseema Rajadhani Sadhana Samithi called for bandh and took out protests and rallies at Kurnool city for denying the capital for erstwhile Kurnool.
The universities in Rayalaseema, Sri Krishna Devaraya and Yogivemana in the region witnessed bandh after the students came on to the roads. But, the situation appeared dull on second day where the students unions and sadahana samithis did not initiate serious protests on Friday at most parts of the region.
A former minister of Congress had tried to provoke the activists to organise bandh at Anantapur, but he was away from the agitation. Pro-Rayalaseema activist G. Nagaraju of Anantapur accused the government and Opposition party leaders of bowed to capitalist pressure of coastal region.
He said, “Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy were hailing from Rayalaseeem region, but not raising the issue and totally failed to protect the interests of Rayalaseema people.”
Another agitator recalled that many students and second rung leaders suffered police harassment and cases during recent Samaykyandhra agitation. “Our MLAs and MPs of all parties keep on maintaining silence. Then how would we lead the agitation,” he pointed out.
An MLA from Rayala-seema said they would discuss the capital issue with their leader Jagan on Saturday.
