Eight tonne laddu fetches Rs 2,12,000
Laddu was part of the Ganesh pandal by the residents of Duvvada
Visakhapatnam: This Ganesh Chaturthi season saw the costliest laddu ever auctioned in Vizag. The laddu, though weighing 27 kgs was tiny as compared to the eight tonne heavy laddu at Gajuwaka, it was sold for a whopping Rs 2,12,000 at an auction. The laddu was part of the Ganesh pandal erected by the residents of three gated communities of STBL Properties Limited at Duvvada and was bought by a combined group of 15 residents of the same colony.
This is not the first time laddu kept at the Ganesh pandal fetched such a high price. During last year’s Ganesh Chaturdhi celebrations, the laddu was bought for Rs1,72,000 by K.L. Gandhi and Indrasena Reddy. Gandhi says, “It is a belief that the laddu kept for Ganesh as naivedyam during the Ganesh chaturdhi festivities brings good luck and blessings of the Lord. In villages, farmers even disperse the laddu in their fields. After I bought the laddu last year I distributed it among the residents, family and loved ones. I witnessed increase in the profits in my business.”
G. Mahesh, one of the 15 buyers of the laddu this year says, “I have strong faith in Lord Ganesh. It is an honour to have bought the laddu which was kept as his naivedyam and to have got the opportunity to distribute it among the people.” The money got through the auction will be used for the next year’s festivities
