Felicitations, awards mark Teachers’ Day
TTD launched a novel programme ‘Satsang’ at Sri Venkateswara Arts College
Nellore/Tirupati: District collector N. Srikant has called upon the teachers to emulate the qualities of Dr Survepalli Radhakrishnan to motivate their students to excel in their academics and reach pinnacle of their professions.
He was addressing a gathering of teachers and students during the Teachers’ Day celebration held here on Friday on the occasion of 126th birth anniversary of Dr Radhakrishnan. He underlined the need to infuse discipline among students to make them as good citizens of the country.
Elsewhere in Chittoor district, felicitations and fervour marked ‘Teachers day’ celebrations held across the district commemorating the birth anniversary of former president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
The biggest celebrations were held at Sree Vidyaniketan International School near Rangampet in Chittoor district owned by actor-turned-politician, Dr. Manchu Mohan Babu.
A statue of Mr M. Narayana Swamy, who is also a teacher by profession and who remained in teaching till his last breath, and father Mohan Babu, was inaugurated by Mr Varaprasad Reddy, chairman of Shanta Biotech, at the school premises on Friday.
Addressing students on the occasion, Dr Mohan Babu, noted that while parents play a vital role in shaping up the future of their children, teachers play a much more crucial role in shaping up the entire society by guiding their students in the right direction.
Meanwhile, rich tributes were paid to Dr. Radhakrishnan as part of the ‘Teachers day’ celebrations held across the district on Friday. Hundreds of teachers were felicitated at special programmes organised in connection with the ‘Teachers day’ celebrations at several schools, junior colleges and universities across the district on Friday.
TTD launched a novel programme ‘Satsang’ at Sri Venkateswara Arts College here on Friday on the occasion of ‘Gurupujotsavams’.
Addressing the students TTD EO M.G. Gopal advocated that ‘Our country stood exemplary for ‘teacher-student’ bondage and taught the world the greatness of this special relationship.’ He called upon the students to acquire moral and spiritual knowledge besides regular academics.
