Suspended police man stabs his wife
Hyderabad: A suspended cop murdered his wife at their house in Samathanagar in Kukatpally Housing Board Colony on Friday. Instead of fleeing, he surrendered at the local police station and confessed to the crime. The accused cop, Bhanu Prakash, 45, an SI for the Special Branch, Hyderabad, was suspended recently for taking prolonged sick leave frequently and being irregular at work. He lived with his wife B. Sowjanya and a son and a daughter. According to the police, due to his suspension, the family had no income and the mounting financial crisis led to frequent disputes between the couple. On Friday afternoon, the couple fought again. “Following a heated argument, an agitated Bhanu Prakash grabbed a knife and stabbed Sowjanya in the stomach. She sustained grave injuries and died instantly,” said V. Sreekanth Goud, inspector of police, KPHB. The incident came to light only when Bhanu Prakash surrendered at the KPHB police station. “He came alone and confessed to the killing at the police station. A murder case has been registered against him. He has been taken into custody,” said Mr Sreekanth. Officials said the accused will be produced before the court and remanded. The victim’s body was shifted to the hospital for post-mortem.
