Include petitioner colleges, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University told
Hyderabad: A breakthrough was finally achieved in the Eamcet counselling issue, with the Hyderabad High Court directing Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, on Thursday, to include the petitioner colleges in the counselling process. Justice A. Rajasekhar Reddy was dealing with a batch of petitions by several private engineering colleges, seeking to direct the JNTU to include their colleges in counselling for PG engineering courses scheduled to be commenced on September 10, for the academic year of 2014-15 for the intake capacity sanctioned by the All India Council for Technical Education. The petitioners challenged the action of the JNTU in not concluding the process of granting of affiliation in pursuance of the process initiated therefore by communication of deficiencies on August 19, 2014, as arbitrary and illegal.
The judge asked the varsity to include petitioner colleges in web counselling, if they comply with all the norms and regulations prescribed by it as well as the AICTE. The judge made it clear that if the JNTU, at a later point in time, found any of the petitioner colleges to have violated any regulation of the varsity as well as the AICTE, it is open for the JNTU to take action in accordance with law.
Can’t give orders to NTR varsity: HC
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday ruled that the court cannot direct the NTR Health University to allot a seat from last year’s strength to a candidate in the present academic year. The bench was allowing a writ appeal by the NTR Health University against an order of single judge in directing the varsity to admit B. Maheswari in MBBS first year in the present academic year that she lost the seat due to the Samaikyandhra agitation.
Petition on land dispute admitted
Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao on Thursday admitted a civil revision petition by the Puducherry government challenging an order of a lower court in Kakinada with regard to a land dispute.
The lower court granted an injunction against the governments of AP and Puducherry on the ground that they are interfering with the private lands belonging to D. Lakshmi Narasamma and others.
APSRTC told to deposit Rs 125cr Justice Rajasekhar Reddy of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the management of the APSRTC to deposit Rs 125 crore within a week into the account of the APSRTC Employees Thrift Cooperative Society. The judge was dealing with a petition filed by the society challenging the action of the management in not remitting the money, which was deducted from the salaries of the employees, into the society’s account.
