Centre says will give full support to new Andhra Pradesh capital

Centre assures all help, including financial assistance, in building the new city
New Delhi: The Union government on Thursday said it would go by the decision of the Andhra Pradesh Government on choosing the Vijayawada region as its new capital, while assuring all help, including financial assistance, in building the new city.
Urban development minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said the Union government was very clear from day one that it was the prerogative of the Andhra Pradesh Government to decide its own capital and that no other agency had any role to play in it.
“We will go by the decision of the Andhra Pradesh Government. As far as the assistance is concerned, the finance ministry is working on the plan. We will extend all possible support (to building the) new capital,” Mr Naidu said.
