25 additional IAS officers likely to Telangana
Hyderabad: In its final allotment, an additional 25 IAS officers are likely to be made soon by the Centre to Telangana state. At present, 89 IAS officers are working for Telangana, while it is 158 for Andhra Pradesh as part of temporary allocation made by the Centre in June. These officers working in the undivided state were distributed in the ratio of 52:48 between AP and TS in proportion to the population.
The Centre appointed Prathyush Sinha Committee for distribution of All India Service officers had already released a provisional allotment list granting state cadre for IAS, IPS and IFS officers on August 22. The committee again met on September 2 to discuss the objections filed by AIS officers but refused to change the state cadre allotted in the provisional list. It has submitted the allotment list to the Department of Personnel and Training, which has to notify the state cadre.
However, both the governments took up the issue of swapping of some key officials between TS and AP with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. DoPT has been waiting for the decision of the Prime Minister in this regard. It will notify the state cadre of each and every official after it gets a clearance from the PM. In the final allotment list, 30 IAS officers presently working for TS are likely to be allotted to AP, while 53 officers now working for AP are likely to be allotted to TS. With this, TS is expected to get an additional 25 IAS officers over the provisional allotment.
