Garment factory manager booked for raping minor
Bengaluru: A 26-year-old garment factory manager was arrested by Wilson Garden police on Thursday morning for allegedly raping a minor girl on the factory premises on August 31. Police have identified the accused as Ravi, a resident of Vivek Nagar.
Police said he allegedly raped a seventeen-year-old girl, who was her neighbour, in a room located in the factory. The manager had asked her to come to his room on the pretext of teaching her stitching and committed the crime.
The incident came to light when the victim narrated the incident to her parents after returning home. The infuriated parents confronted Ravi and asked him to marry their daughter. But Ravi declined and told them that he was already engaged.
The enraged parents then took the girl to Wilson Garden police station and based on the victim's complaint, Ravi was arrested, said the police. The medical reports confirmed that the girl was raped.
Wilson Garden police have registered a case and have booked Ravi under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and IPC Section 376 (rape).
