Vinod Mehta to get G K Reddy award
Vinod Mehta has authored biographies of Sanjay Gandhi and Meena Kumari
New Delhi: Veteran journalist and former Editor-in-Chief of Outlook magazine Vinod Mehta has been nominated for G.K. Reddy memorial award for his contributions to journalism.
The award established by Congress MP T. Subbarami Reddy in memory of late journalist G.K. Reddy will be presented to Mr Mehta at a ceremony in December this year. The award carries Rs 5 lakh in cash, gold medal and a citation.
A press release said, Vinod Mehta became the country’s youngest editor when he took over as editor-in-chief of Debonair in 1974.
“Since then he known as the ultimate launch-man of Indian journalism has founded and edited numerous publications, among them India’s first Sunday paper the Sunday Observer, the Indian Post, the Independent and the Pioneer (Delhi edition). Currently, he is editorial chairman of the Outlook Group,” it said.
Vinod Mehta has authored biographies of Sanjay Gandhi and Meena Kumari, and published in 2001 a collection of his articles under the title Mr Editor, How Close Are you to the PM?
