Teachers’ day: Narendra Modi vs Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan?

Many schools, have made it clear that they won't be holding the programme

Bengaluru: There is still confusion over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's much-awaited Teacher's Day speech on Friday. Even though the State Government has made it clear that the programme was optional, many school heads of the city allege that unofficially they were being directed to make arrangements to live stream the event on school premises. However some schools, including Bishop Cotton School and Jain Public School, have made it clear that they won't be holding the programme.

A head of a private school affiliated to state board from Bengaluru South told this newspaper that an education department official had called them and directed them to arrange live streaming.

However, DPI officials have denied that any such directions were being made. M. Gopalakrishna, Block Education Officer, Bengaluru North 1 said the participation in the event was optional.
