Search panel to give names for Lokpal

The search commiittee could now recommend names for the anti-corruption body
New Delhi: Changing the rules of the new Lokpal search committee, the notification said that the search commiittee could now recommend names for the anti-corruption body. “The committee may, for the purpose of shortlisting of persons, adopt such shortlisting norms as it may consider appropriate,” said the new rules notified by DoPT.
“The words from amongst the list of persons provided by the Central government in the Department of Personnel and Training shall be omitted,” the new rules added. The government has also reduced the composition of the search committee to seven members from eight. The Centre shall provide such assistance as may be required by the search committee in efficient discharge of its functions.
