Royal Family undecided over Dasara fest

Uncertainty continues over the appointment of a successor to the scion of the Mysore royal family

Mysore: While the Mysore Dasara is barely a few weeks away, uncertainty continues over the appointment of a successor to the scion of the Mysore royal family, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar who passed away in December last and the holding of the private Dasara celebrations by the royal family.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of the centenary logo and website of the University of Mysore (UoM) on Wednesday, Maharani Pramoda Devi sought more time to anoint a successor to her late husband and didn’t say anything conclusive on the holding of the private Dasara celebrations, which include the convening of the centuries’-old Khas Durbar.

All she said was the appointment of a successor to her late husband, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, was getting delayed due to some contraints. “It is not possible for me to appoint a successor as of now. It may take a while more,” she added. She further said that “I have already expressed my views on the subject and there is no change in my stand.”
