Pramod Muthalik seeks gun licence for Hindu leaders
According to Pramod Muthalik Hindu leaders should be issued gun licences for their protection
Coimbatore:The police should issue gun licences to Hindu leaders to protect themselves as several of them have been fatally attacked over the years, said Mr Pramod Muthalik, founder of Sri Ram Sena, here on Wednesday.
“It is not as though we do not trust the competence of our police, but it would be of great help if our Hindu leaders get guns for their own protection, particularly when they move out of Tamil Nadu. More than 100 Hindu leaders have been killed in the last 10 years in Tamil Nadu,” Mr Muthalik told a media conference here.
Asked if possessing guns would solve their problems, he shot back, “Many people use illegal weapons; we are only seeking government permission to keep guns for protection.”
Mr Muthalik also said inter-religious and inter-caste marriages should be performed only in the presence of magistrates and not in churches and madrasas “so as to prevent conversion of Hindu brides and grooms to other religions”.
