MLA Krishnaiah would oppose CM Naidu's move to include Kapus into BCs if survey not done

Reservations should be provided to BCs in the private sector

Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party Telangana MLA and backward class leader R. Krsihnaiah said he would oppose the move by N. Chandrababu Naidu’s government to include Kapus into BCs if no survey is conducted.

“They have to conduct a survey on the socio-economic situation of Kapus related to education and jobs and then decide on their inclusion into BCs. We will demand a separate category among BCs if they have to be included,” Mr Krishnaiah said.

He was speaking to reporters at the AP Assembly after submitting a representation to Mr Naidu to put pressure on the Centre for introduction of a BC Bill in Parliament. Mr Krishnaih said BCs want a social security act like the SC/ST Atrocities Act.

“We demanded reservations in promotions to BC employees and a separate ministry for BCs in the central government and constitutional sanction for BC reservations in local bodies. A national BC Commission has to be set up and post matric and prematric scholarships should be introduced for BCs,” Mr Krishnaiah said.

Reservations should be provided to BCs in the private sector. A Census to count BC population at the national level has to be taken up,” said Krishnaiah.
