Kerala RSS leader murder: BJP-RSS boycotts peace meet
Kannur: The BJP-RSS leadership boycotted the all-party peace meet convened in the aftermath of the murder of RSS district Shikshak pramukh Elamthottathil Manoj.
CPM district secretary P Jayarajan, State committee member M V Jayarajan, James Mathew, MLA, and KM Shaji, MLA, (Muslim League) attended the meeting, convened by district collector P Balakiran.
At the meet, Mr P Jayarajan deplored and disowned the killing. “Many allegations have been levelled against us but at this point we do not want to address all of them”, said Mr Jayarajan.
Mr Shaji demanded all efforts to arrest the guilty. Most participants doubted that the peace meet would mean nothing because of the absence of ‘BJP-RSS’ representatives.
Meanwhile, the CPM Kannur district committee launched an all-out effort to disown the key suspect, Vikraman, who is allegedly close to Mr Jayarajan. The CPM leaders made it a point to ask the Government to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
Though a section of BJP leaders at the emergency party meeting held on Wednesday in Kannur had insisted on stating the party view at the peace meeting, the RSS leadership was adamant on boycotting it. The RSS leaders alleged that CPM had made ‘peace meets’ a mere farce by slaying RSS workers after such meetings.
